Program Assistant/Intern
REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified individual will be working toward or possess a Bachelors degree in a related field.
- Desired experience includes project management, event coordination, writing, editing, proofreading and social media.
- Position requires the ability to work with others to produce marketing and communication materials, increase membership, execute public relations projects, plan meetings and work with volunteers and staff to implement specific projects.
- Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to prioritize projects and multi-task.
- Travel may be required.
- Position is temporary, part-time, up to 35 hours per week through December 31, 2009. An outstanding candidate may be considered for full-time employment.
The Program Assistant/Intern is a temporary, part-time, hands-on job that includes significant detail work and responsibility. Specifically, this position will:
Alpha Zeta
Alpha Zeta is an honorary, professional society for the agricultural and natural resources fields. The organization has more than 3,000 student members at 74 universities across the country and represents more than 125,000 alumni world-wide.
- Produce and distribute semi-monthly e-newsletters to student members, advisors and stakeholders.
- Produce and distribute four to six direct mail donation/dues solicitations to alumni.
- Manage chapter relationships including contacting chapter student leaders and advisors.
- Manage client web site, including posting new information, sponsor logos, program updates, etc.
- Assist with Board of Directors communications, including meeting notices, room scheduling, preparation of meeting binders, minutes distribution, maintaining and updating contact lists, etc.
- Coordinate NALC program and events with chapter leaders and the Executive Director.
- Coordinate/execute Service Leadership Initiative (farming/rural community service project(s))
- Produce/coordinate client social media strategy including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, blog and Webinars.
CSF’s mission is to enhance the spirit of Christmas for kids, families and the environment. Its Trees for Troops program has furnished more than 50,000 real Christmas trees to active duty troops and their families. This position will focus on two programs.
TweetUp4Troops – Locally hosted events to honor veterans, raise funds for our Trees for Troops program, and have fun. Tasks for this program include:
- Encourage people to sign up to host events and work with other staff to provide support to volunteers.
- Research means to expand the reach of our Twitter accounts -- find key influencers and enlist their help in getting the word out to their followers.
- Research and tweet about relevant content / related events that will increase the value of following CSF on Twitter.
- Seek out and contact restaurant chains and others that might offer facilities for TweetUp4Troops events.
- Seek out potential corporate sponsors for TweetUp4Troops events.
- Research and make contact with various associations, businesses and service organizations and encourage them to ask their members / employees / customers to host events.
- Assist with PR efforts and media inquiries.
- Edit consumer submissions and prepare for distribution via web site, e-mails and other means.
- Respond to consumer questions via phone and e-mail.
